Looking for a Founding Engineer
About us:
Groops is a Boston-based startup that helps teams feel and function their best by bringing experts in organizational psychology to the virtual / hybrid office on an affordable subscription basis. We leverage AI to provide ongoing insights and recommendations to deepen cohesion and improve collaboration, communication, retention, engagement, and belonging.
We are democratizing Dr. Wendy Rhoades (from Billions) and productizing around her, modernizing organizational psychology.
Most organizations are stuck facing the expensive problem of churn and disengagement as the current available tools are not solving for dysfunction, disconnection, and lack of cohesion on teams - people leave jobs, not people. We help teams work better together and stay longer.
We launched the service and insights (we are in market / raising preseed in the fall) while building towards being the global hub of workplace connection (coaching, insights, assessments, evidence-based content, dashboards, and training).
About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented founding engineer to join our team and play a critical role in the development and growth of our startup. The founding engineer will work closely with the founder / team to expand the initial product (current platform is based on Bubble.io), establish the technical architecture, and lead the technical team as the company grows. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a rapidly growing startup from the very beginning and to make a significant impact on its success.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the founding team to define and expand and build off of the initial product
Design and implement the technical architecture of the growing product
Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications using modern web technologies (e.g., React, Typescript, Node.js )
Rapidly prototype and test cutting edge techniques like prompt engineering, instruction tuning and more
Contribute to the company's overall strategy and direction
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
Requirements:.
Someone who cares about the mission and culture of Groops - it is pretty special
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Knowledge of / willingness to learn Bubble.io (as our current platform is built on that)
At least 3 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on full-stack development
Experience with modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js ) and backend technologies (e.g., Typescript, Node.js , MySQL)
Hands-on professional experience with AI/ML models
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Preferred qualifications:
Architect, train and deploy LLMs
Experience working in a startup environment
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
Boston-based is ideal but not required
If you're a driven, entrepreneurial engineer who is excited about the opportunity to build something from the ground up, we encourage you to apply. Our ideal candidate would start part-time, and grow to full-time (including equity). Contact: bobbi.w@joingroops.com
